Turbo Prop

Turboprops turn short runways and small fields into doors. The Pilatus PC-12 NG, this class's flagship, carries eight from unmarked strips to major gates with the lowest operating cost of any class. The Cessna Caravan pairs that reach with the simplest, most flexible cabin in charter.

About

The Turbo Prop class

A turboprop charter suits the trip too short to justify a jet: the hour hop to a plant town, the island strip, the mountain valley with a gravel surface. The cabin is smaller and the cruise lower, so the same leg takes a little longer than in a jet.

What you get back is reach into places jets cannot use and the quietest operating economics of any class. The PC-12 NG carries eight at 280 knots with a 30,000 foot ceiling; the Caravans carry nine or ten on shorter legs with fixed, forgiving gear.

Every turboprop on this page is available through Velare's vetted operator partners. Availability depends on the operator and the trip.

Why charter

Why charter Turbo Prop

Runways others can't use

Turboprops serve the short, high, unpaved and remote fields that jets leave to the drive afterwards.

Kind on short sectors

On legs under an hour, a turboprop's operating economics beat a jet, and the difference shows in the quote.

Simple to schedule

With the widest aircraft availability in charter, a turboprop trip is usually the quickest to arrange.

Weather doors

Most turboprops sit in heated hangars at small fields, which shortens winter ops and keeps schedules honest.

FAQ

Common questions

How far can a turboprop fly?

Typical types in this class cover about 1,000 to 1,800 nautical miles, which is enough for most regional itineraries with a fuel stop on the longest legs.

Is a turboprop less safe than a jet?

No. Turboprops are certified to the same standards as jets and flown by qualified crews. The class is simply built for different missions.

How many people fit?

Most turboprops seat six to ten comfortably, depending on the type.
